As a Senior Engineer, Mechanical Technologies for Internal Combustion Engines, you will be a key member of the System Dynamics & Tribology Lab, which is on a mission to become the centre of gravity for the company on all mechanical technologies for GE’s IC engine portfolio. You will perform research and development in advancing IC engine mechanical technologies and systems to meet the growing needs of GE’s Transportation and Gas Engines businesses. Essential Responsibilities: As Senior Engineer, Mechanical Technologies for Internal Combustion Engines.
Work closely with engineers both at GE Global Research and the GE business units in the design, analysis, lifing and reliability of mechanical components.
Develop modeling tools to predict lifing and reliability of GE IC engine components;Work with other engineers and researchers to provide engine system solutions for field issues of GE’s IC engine customers;You will work on teams that drive research and development of mechanical technologies required for power unit and conrod system, crank train, crank case, cylinder head, valve train, cam shaft, gear train and lubrication system for all of reciprocating engines of GE.
You will work on reliability improvement technologies for GE IC engines.
Your responsibilities will include guiding engine component tests and doing required analysis to predict engine component stress/lifing/reliability.
Own and foster the capability growth of GE’s IC engine portfolio by identifying and pursuing the evaluation of critical emerging technologies and build a roadmap Serve as a technical expert for the resolution of short-term technical issues Build relationships with technical counterparts at the GE businesses and communicate the status and merits of technologies under development.
Masters in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in IC engine design and minimum of 12 years of relevant experience or Ph.D in Mechanical engineering and minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Industrial/Research experience in using commercial engineering software such as ADAMS/AVL/FEV/RICARDO/ANSYS.Domain expertise in design, dynamics, lifing methods, stress analysis and tribology.
Strong understanding of the engine design and operating parameters
Design experience in reciprocating engines & testing experience of single/multi cylinder engines.
Strong connect with professional bodies (ASME, STLE,).
Passion for generating IP.
Active participant in relevant international conferences;Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver on large projects with multiple team members.
Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions independently and pull together research plan.
Passion for research and technology. Demonstrated leadership for relatively larger research efforts (or projects)
Track record of being recognized as a technical expert in IC engines mechanical design and research.
Creative thinking for generating new ideas.
