Engineers are nowadays the most commonly found creatures on the earth. Pursuing engineering has become a favorite choice of every youngster. The flavor of engineering has grown so intense that even female candidates are showing interest in it. While earlier it was restricted till the male family.1. Marks! Marks!! Marks!!!

You might be an engineer but if your marks in 10th or 12th is less; you are not eligible to apply in many of the companies as per their norms and standards set.

This is one the foremost reason why many engineers are not able to get in to a MNC. The companies like TCS and INFOSYS does not accept applicants if they have secured less than 60% in their boards or intermediate. Along with this, there are students with major educational gap in their resume. If there is a gap of more than 1-2 years in your educational career, then also, you are not an eligible candidate to apply in many companies. So, being engineer or a B.Tech degree holder is not enough sometimes.

2. All the engineers hunt for employment

When you are an engineer, you are an employable person. Getting employed is one thing and being employable is yet another.

“Employable” means you are able to get employed but you are still not an employee. Here, I want to make it clear, that being an engineer doesn`t mean you will get the job sure shot in one hit.  You have to hunt for it. Keep trying regularly. There are more than 3000 engineering colleges all across our country. Every year around 1.5 million students are doing engineering. But, every year 1.5 million jobs are not being generated for engineering students. “If you throw a stone in Bangalore; it will land in any software company. But if you the same stone in outskirts of Bangalore; it`ll land in any engineering colleges.”  There are so many engineers churning out every year from these colleges. Everyone cannot get a technical job.

3. Lack in the supply of good jobs

You must have heard that even after doing post graduates, people are joining bank as a clerk. Have you ever given a thought on this? The same is with engineers!

While taking admission in an engineering college; you might have compromised with your area of interest. You might have got Computer science while you want to take mechanical branch. It happens with everyone. The reason behind this is again the same, the less number of seats and more aspirants! The situation is again the same. The jobs are available in the market but in different field. Now, everyone if wants to join in the same strata cause he/she is an engineer then, pragmatically it`s not possible. Someone has to take the job at low strata. Sometimes, the demand is more in non-technical jobs in comparison to technical jobs. What happens, in the technical department, the number of people required is comparatively less; as most of the work is being carried out through technologies. While in other departments, the requirement of human beings is more. So, it`s better to give your career a kick start rather than being in reserve mode.

4. India is the hottest BPO destination

We Indians are known for our English speaking ability! BPO is the sector where your communication matters not the technicality!!

Undoubtedly, today, India is the first choice of whole word when it comes to outsource their work. Why so? The reasons are simple and evident. We work at lower wages than others. We are proved to be cost-effective than other developed countries of the world. We are known as the “skill India” too.  We have the large number of skilled human resources. Every year we are producing the largest number of graduates all across the world. We are blessed with the advantage of being in a distinct time zone; which gives us flexibility in working hours. We easily adapt ourselves with the time zone of different countries. For example, the working hour in U.K. is 10 am to 4 pm which is an easy and convenient shift for us. For a client, it doesn`t matter, whether you are good at java or not, what matters for them is that you must know the language English.

5. BPO/Support is like an easy available option

Some people want to take the easy option. They want to run their career smoothly. They are not so keen in learning technologies.

Being an engineer doesn`t mean, they should go for technical jobs only, even, if not interested. There are many students who have pursued their career in engineering but now when it comes to work. They rather choose the voice process over testing. Everyone has their own interests and likes. It`s absolutely alright if you are not so interested in fixing technical problems. Some people choose their career on the pressure of their parents. They want to do something else while forced to go in some other direction. But, when it comes to work. The decision should be purely based on your own interest. As you have to continue till life long here. It`s not a degree education that will last till three-four years.
